Kabuliwala and the City

This city looks different -

But, what was I expecting?

After years of exile,

The universe changes

Just like you and me,

What is a city?

I stop the river of emotions,

And look outside;

Vague echoes of crowded roads,

A roundabout

Tagore looks sombre

Hands at the back, whispering:

We are all Kabuliwalas,

In the trade of time,

Our city, a Mini khuki

Growing up

Failing to see us

Not the other way round,

Tagore departs in divine wisdom -

While I -

I scramble for mortal loopholes

My cab - a prison coach, floats away

A time-machine

In a different universe…
